Explosive welding method enables to make full-area welds of practically any combinations of metals regardless their possible unweldability by classical fusing method. Minimal ductility of both connected materials is a fundamental condition for explosive area welds. Half finished products manufactured this way are used above all in chemical and food industry in following combinations of materials: iron – stainless steel, iron-copper, iron-titanium etc. Area welds manufactured this way feature high mechanical strength.
We produce bimetallic anode and cathode transition plates made by explosive welding technology for electrolyc furnaces for aluminium production. By combination of ferrite-pearlite steel with aluminium (Al 99.9%), zero electrical resistance in transition zone up to the temperature of 500° C is reached. Anode transition parts are used for connection of an iron shaft and an aluminium stirrer in electrolytic furnaces during aluminium production.
